I walked into Yum Bakery in Mermaid Beach to order a birthday cake for my niece’s 21st, and I was not prepared for what I found.
The cakes on display stopped me in my tracks. Every single one was handmade, beautifully decorated, and looked like something you’d see in a high-end patisserie — not a little neighbourhood bakery tucked along the Gold Coast Highway. I immediately knew I’d come to the right place.

The Story Behind I
Yum Bakery is run by Heya, who spent four years baking custom cakes from home before opening this permanent café in Mermaid Beach. She designed the space herself — cosy inside with relaxed outdoor seating — and her young daughter even helped redesign the logo. You feel that family warmth the moment you walk in.
